If you are having isolated issues to any of these problems, feel free to click on that category to read a blog that covers that topic <span style=\"color: #2ca1bd;\"><strong>(the \u201c\u2026and many, many more\u201d link is like the I\u2019m Feeling Lucky link on Google\u2026you\u2019re not sure what you\u2019ll get, but it\u2019s fun to find out!)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>With so many things to cover, <strong>is it really necessary to understand what your buyer person is?<\/strong> The short answer is: <strong>Yes.<\/strong> <em>Why?<\/em> Because understanding your customer needs is the very definition of customer service; and without good customer service, well, you might want to check out this link to our site on <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong><a title=\"how to Shut Down Your Business\" href=\"\/i-want-to-shut-it-down\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">how to Shut Down Your Business<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>. I know that sounds a bit harsh but when you don\u2019t care about your customers, it shows; and they won\u2019t remain your customers for long.<\/p>\n<p><em>So what is a buyer persona?<\/em> <span style=\"color: #329bb8;\"><span style=\"color: #2ca1bd;\"><strong>A buyer persona is a semi-fictional representation of your ideal customer based on market research and real data about your existing customers. When creating your buyer persona(s), consider including customer demographics, behavior patterns, motivations, and goals. The more detailed you are, the better. <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This definition comes from Hubspot (you can read more here: <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.hubspot.com\/marketing\/buyer-persona-definition-under-100-sr\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">http:\/\/blog.hubspot.com\/marketing\/buyer-persona-definition-under-100-sr<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>What are the benefits from knowing my buyer persona?<\/em> You\u2019re a busy person. Wouldn\u2019t it be easier to look at what your customers are buying and continue to focus on that? I\u2019d like to say yes, but that will only get you so far. People don\u2019t like to look like complainers. If nothing is wrong with what you give them, they will take it and most likely be thankful. <b>But what if you could give them what they really want but don\u2019t ask for? What if what they really want isn&#8217;t an option yet and you can pioneer that effort?<br \/>\n<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Market research can be a bit time consuming but it is well worth the investment in that it gives you a better understanding of your ideal customer and their needs. This can help you develop new products or services or decide which ones to focus on. <span style=\"color: #2ca1bd;\"><strong>It also develops a better relationship with your customers by showing them that you care about their needs.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>How can you obtain this information?<\/em> We\u2019ve covered that good Market Research is how you find out more about your buyer persona, but how do you implement this? A survey card could be useful, but how many actually take the time to fill those out? Online surveys might be a bit more successful yet. A phone call works great in that it not only finds out the answers to their problems but it personalizes the experience for your persona by allowing them to talk to a human who genuinely cares. You might even want to try a combination of all three&#8230;<strong>whatever you choose, you should make sure it is tailored to your industry and your specific business so that it works for you.<\/strong> You can outsource this to Marketing Professionals (this can help you achieve fast results and give you more time to focus on other key components) or you can get started on your own.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of my favorite questions to ask <span style=\"color: #2ca1bd;\"><strong>(remember that most people don\u2019t have a lot of time so you don\u2019t want to spend more than a few minutes asking questions\u2026 the goal is to find out a lot, by asking a little)<\/strong><\/span>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your name? Age range? (Demographics)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your role in the Company? (Title, and responsibilities if they want to share more.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your Company\u2019s target industry? (It is important to know not only what they process but who they are looking to sell to.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What are your main goals?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What are your biggest challenges? (Although some don\u2019t like to share failure stories, you can help them feel more comfortable by offering suggestions: Leads? Recruiting quality employees? Increasing profits?)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Where do you get the latest industry information? (Magazines? Online? Competitors?)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you prefer to shop online or in-person?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Would you be interested in receiving more information on how to solve problem X?* (You\u2019ve found out their challenges, if you can send them helpful information on how to solve that problem, they will rarely say no.)<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>*This is an opportunity to nurture your customer (or prospective customer). <strong>DO NOT<\/strong> send a bunch of flyers for products and services. I find sending an email with links to a helpful blog or an informational whitepaper attachment works best.
